Rugged Carlton utility who does his best work on the centre-line but is a ‘goer’ when thrown on the ball in a roving capacity. Does not know the meaning of defeat and, while he might have a few rough edges, he has the force and skill to make him a driving force.¹

Carlton recruited Fraser Brown from Lilydale and he took his bows in the Blues’ senior team in 1989. A hard tackling, resolute performer, he was a key figure in the Carlton engine room, and indeed the longer his career went on the more vital he became to the team’s cause. When he retired in 2000 it was after 177 V/AFL games and 99 goals. The undoubted highlight of his career came in 1995 when he was a

noteworthy contributor to Carlton’s grand final demolition of Geelong. Three years later he won a club best and fairest and he continued to provide the Blues with drive and energy until the end of his career. Fraser Brown is the son of former Australian netball coach Joyce Brown.
